The Lily Pad Learning Center’s Program for Preschool and School-Age Children

Preschool (Ages 4-5)

The preschool program, called Tree Frogs, utilizes the Mother Goose Curriculum and the Jolly Phonics Curriculum. The Mother Goose Curriculum is recognized by the state learning standards, and Jolly Phonics teaches children letters and sounds through songs and activities. The curriculum includes monthly themes, colors, letters, numbers, and shapes, and incorporates these themes into activities designed to help students develop:

• Cooperation

• Listening

• Sharing

• Taking turns

• Following directions

Students are introduced to concepts through:

• Large and small muscle activities

• Creative expression through dramatic play, music, and art

• Lessons about body parts

• Social studies and science activities

The program emphasizes helping children develop a positive sense of self-worth, respect for others, and the ability to control and express their emotions.

School-Age (Kindergarten-5th Grade)

The school-age program, called Bullfrogs, includes before- and after-school care and a summer camp program. During the school year, the daily schedule includes time for:

• Outdoor play

• Crafts

• Educational activities

Children who need transportation to and from school can ride in the center’s vans. The summer program includes:

• Field trips

• Water days

• Other activities

Conscious Discipline

Both the Tree Frogs and Bullfrogs programs utilize the Conscious Discipline curriculum, which emphasizes guidance rather than punishment. Students are taught breathing strategies to help them manage their emotions.
